HIPAA - Compliant Reports
In compliance with the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), printed
reports that contain identifiable patient data must be
restricted to personnel that the patient gives consent to view
the information. If the data is to be transmitted to
personnel who have not been given permission by the patient
directly, such as collaborating clinicians / doctors for
research studies, the report information must be stripped of
directly identifiable personal data. Spectrum's Standard
report contains directly identifiable personal information
that is appropriate for diagnosis and billing at the clinic
where the tests were performed. Spectrum's De-identified
report has the patient's Name and ID Number removed from the
report headers. The report is then identified by the age
and gender of the patient, allowing the test data to be used
in research studies.
