Caloric Irrigators - AirStar
Air Caloric Features
The AirStar caloric irrigator delivers a precisely controlled temperature and flow rate of cool or warm air to evaluate the horizontal semicircular canal during caloric testing. In less than a minute after turning on the AirStar, the temperature stabilizes at the desired setting indicated on a digital display.
The AirStar caloric irrigator utilizes a lighted otoscope hand piece. The otoscope hand piece features replaceable tips, a magnifying lens and a cool, bright white LED light pipe for illuminating the tympanic membrane (TM) without obstructing the airflow or the view of the TM.
Air Caloric Requirements
The AirStar requires the ambient temperature to be 4°F (2°C) degrees cooler than the cool temperature tested, typically 75°F (24°C). Therefore the ambient temperature must be kept at 71°F (22°C) or cooler, which is attainable in many environments. When it is not possible (or desired) to maintain the ambient environment 4°F (2°C) cooler than the cool temperature tested, Micromedical recommends the Cooling AirStar caloric irrigator.
