Vestibular Balance Testing - Balance Check™
Platform Posturography
Human postural control relies on the gravity sensing ability of the vestibular system and spinal reflexes to balance the body over a relatively small base of support provided by the feet. When the integrity of the sensory information or the Central Nervous System (CNS) is compromised, the ability to stay balanced is greatly reduced.
Features
| • |
Balance Check utilizes the modified Clinical Test for the Sensory Interaction on Balance (mCTSIB) and the Limits of Stability (LoS) Test to objectively quantify a patient’s balance capabilities. |
| • |
The Balance Check testing protocol can be used as a screening tool to infer fall risk, particularly the LoS scores, as abnormal balance can be caused by a non-vestibular dysfunction. |
| • |
Since many vestibular patients are at risk of falling, the Balance Check support harness is highly recommended to prevent falls during testing. |
| • |
Combining all analyses from VisualEyes, VORTEQ®, and Balance Check will maximize your ability to distinguish between those patients that can be treated effectively in your office and those that need referral for more comprehensive evaluation and treatment. |
